About

Michael Hodgkins is a landscape artist and oil painting teacher and Photographer from Perth, Western Australia.

Painting began for Michael as a child, being taught by his professional landscape artist father, George Hodgkins. Michael augmented this early training with tertiary studies in contemporary art and design. He has also used extensive self education to research and learn the properties and uses of traditional fine art painting materials, pigments & binders.

He works primarily in oils but has applied his hand at different times to Acrylic, Watercolour, Gouache and Pastel.

Michael has taught University extension courses, Landscape technique workshops and landscape oil painting classes.

When not painting, Michael indulges his parallel interest in landscape photography.
