  This website started back around 1998 on a free server, poorly coded and with an obscure address. I am sure it looked quite amateurish and probably only worked half the time.
  
  Nevertheless, it was one of the first dedicated artist’s gallery websites on the internet and it did the job. It was called “Artworks on the Web” and kept that name for many years.
