Another view near home. There is a paddock with old tractors and assorted machinery just lying all over it. I singled this one out as it was near the road where I ride my bicycle and seemed quite special just sitting there in the grass.

Karri Valley Resort on Lake Beedelup in the south of Western Australia. Approximately 7.15pm, looking directly across the lake from the chalets. The setting sun is striking the tops of the trees as the rising shadows start cutting the light off the lower trunks. The calm water and heavenly light are held like this for only a few minutes - A moment of quiet meditative glory that I had to capture and hold.

Near Dunedin on the Southern Island of New Zealand. If you take the southern roads along the Otago Peninsula out past Hoopers Inlet you will pass by these characters. I have seen the odd group of roadside mailboxes before but this collection of weather beaten masterpieces is something special! How could I resist? The title of this painting is taken from the interesting signage on the central structure.

New Zealand. After spending a couple of weeks in the grey cold summer of Dunedin it was a wonderful change to find clear warm skys at Milford Sound. My family and I had one of those magical days where we cruised on still waters, surrounded by sheer snow capped mountains with dolphins playing in the bow waves of our boat. My son Shane and daughter Jessica along with her friend Donna who accompanied us from Australia set new speed records I am sure for filling up memory cards on their digital cameras. My wife Tracey didn't fare much better. I seem to have a lot of video of seals, dolphins, cloud topped mountains and waterfalls, all from Milford Sound. Regrettably we eventually had to leave that magic place and drove back up the road to Te Anau. Half an hour after videoing dolphins under the boat, we were up at the snow line, stopped at the entrance to Homer Tunnel and having snow fights in our T-shirts under a hot sun! The road crosses the beautiful creek in this painting just a short way out of Milford Sound. A subject like this required special treatment so I spent a lot of time on the work recreating the pleasure of being there. |

| Otago Peninsula, New Zealand. This quaint little boatshed is one of several along the interesting track called Beach Road that winds its way around Hoopers Inlet to Allans Beach.If you look really carefully in the distance you might see the Mailboxes featured in the painting "Nursery Closed" which are to the right on the distant shore. Well, maybe not. I think they would be behind the trees on the right :) The hill in the background is a geological landmark called Harbour Cone which is sandwhiched between Larnach Castle on one side and the interesting little waterside village of Portobello on the other. | ||||

| Toodyay is a small town just east of Perth in Western Australia and it is surrounded by this beautiful country that I have painted a lot in both oils and watercolour. Something about the combination of drab green gum trees, dead skeletal trees, yellow grass and red earth that gets me excited. They all have such character. Add some late afternoon light and everything is perfect! | ||||
